Fefu and Her Friends

In 1935, a group of women come together to discuss feminism and how they can improve their world. They share with each other their struggles with class, gender and relationships. In this design, I wanted to boldly highlight each character and allow each of them to really burst out of their restrictive environment. At the same time, I wanted soft, sheer moments in the clothes to underscore when these women were especially vulnerable or, in the case of Julia, expressing how forcibly gendered they have been.
