This classic has been re-imagined in an ultra-religious, post apocalyptic society. Centering Hamlet as a woman, I wanted to make it clear how entirely ostracized from her society she is after the death of her father. As people are further socially from the places of power in the court, their clothes lose refinement in how they are remade. The ghost of Hamlet Sr. is imagined as a massive, lightweight puppet to add the the gravity and drama of the play. As we move to the players, we develop a found-object aesthetic that is lush and fantastical, to give it the heightened feel of the world.
